Kiwanis welcomes Captain Good to the clubThe Kiwanis Club of Aiken recently inducted new member Captain Malaika Good during their member meeting at Park Avenue Oyster Bar and Grill. Captain Good and her husband Michael have been serving the Salvation Army of Aiken since last summer. Together they lead a multifaceted Salvation Army operation including worship ministries, social services, two thrift stores, an emergency shelter and the Red Shied Youth Center. Shoemaker named Kiwanian of the Year
During a recent installation ceremony for Kiwanis Club of Aiken at Legends Grille, Steve Shoemaker was named Kiwanian of the year for the 2024/2025 term. "With joy and enthusiasm, he spends endless hours supervising, organizing and participating in each event,” said club president, Muriel Gouffray.
Kiwanian honored for 40 years of service
Kiwanian Bob Barnett was recently honored for his dedication and service to the Aiken community. Barnett was active in the Kiwanis Club of Aiken for 40 years including leading the organization in many youth- oriented projects and serving as president for the 1985/1986 term. He was also a club advisor for Silver Bluff High School’s Key Club and served on the Kiwanis of Aiken board of directors.
Barnett is a graduate of Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering. His professional career included project management, manufacturing management and professional recruiter. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio and South Carolina. He is a US Navy veteran and completed 20 years of service in the Naval Reserves, earning the rank of Commander.

Driscoll honored for service
Club member since 2015, Mary Driscoll was honored at our May meeting for her 10 years of service to the Kiwanis Club of Aiken. She also served on the Board and as President during the 2018/2019 term. Waddell joins Kiwanis of Aiken
The Kiwanis Club of Aiken recently inducted new member Heather Waddell. Waddell is the Executive Director of Aiken's Tri-Development Center and ls community focused. She also serves on the board of Friends of Hopelands Garden and Rye Patch. The Kiwanis club of Aiken’s installation banquet was held November 14. The 24/25 new officers are President Muriel Gouffray, Vice President Andrew Green, Secretary Hetal Acharekar and Treasurer Angela Boyette.
Past president, Angela Boyette lead the meeting with comments of appreciation and highlights of the past year’s successes and community service participation. “Our club members completed approximately 4,000 hours of service,” said Boyette. She also inducted new members Jean-Paul Gouffray, Danny Lack, Steve Shoemaker and Donna Simms. Membership Committee Chair Andrew Green and Community Service Chair Denise Shoemaker were named "Kiwanians of the Year" for their contributions and dedication. “We have three main areas to focus on in the coming year,” said President Muriel Gouffray. “We will strengthen our student programs, grow our membership and continue to focus on community service.” |
