Kiwanis members ring bell for Salvation Army

An annual service project for the Kiwanis Club of Aiken, members paired up and took shifts to ring the bell for Salvation Army. Members greeted customers of Krogar with a smile and a "Merry Christmas" in hopes of bringing cheer to them and those in need.

Club Mission and Purpose

The primary mission of the Kiwanis Club of Aiken is to support youth and other civic services in the Aiken area.  Service projects address needs within the community, such as community beautification projects, assisting with large-scale fund-raising efforts (e.g., holiday bell-ringing for the Salvation Army), supporting youth sports, and providing financial and personal assistance to community service projects organized by the youth programs sponsored by Kiwanis. The Kiwanis Club of Aiken also sponsors youth programs in area schools, including Key Clubs at Silver Bluff High School and Midland Valley High School.  In addition, the club sponsors a Circle K program at the University of South Carolina Aiken.  These youth programs have received award recognition for their service activities at both the district and international levels over the past several years.  The club also supports the Terrific Kids program which promotes character development and scholastic achievement at eleven area elementary schools. In addition to the service aspects of the organization, the Kiwanis Club of Aiken serves its members by encouraging fellowship among the membership and providing entertaining and educational programs during weekly meetings.  The club also provides leadership and growth opportunities to its members through its organizational structure and the responsibilities associated with club officer positions.

We Are Just Kiwanians

I am just a Kiwanian, just like you, you see,
I get up every morning to find a new reason to be;
To be someone special to a shut-in or a kid,
To make the world a better place because of what I did.

You and I are no different, we both share the same belief,
That living by the Kiwanis Objects, we give much needed relief.
We strive to live by the Golden Rule, believe in our fellow man,
We have faith in our future, that Kiwanis has a plan.

A plan to rid our world of famine, grief and strife,
To give to every human being a better way of life.
So, let's all work together for every boy and girl,
The future of Kiwanis is serving the children of our world!
